Jacksonville, Fla. December – The McCann Law Group LLP recently added attorney Daniel Vargas, of counsel, to its national mortgage litigation team in December to provide greater access to mortgage litigation resources in Southern Texas. Having served in the United States military and worked at the Hidalgo County Public Defender Office, The McCann Law Group feels Vargas represents a strong addition to its national mortgage litigation team.
Vargas currently works at The Vargas Law Office in addition to his of counsel position at The McCann Law Group. His primary areas of practice include criminal defense, immigration law, family law, personal injury, employment law, mortgage litigation and foreclosure defense.
Vargas grew up in Las Milpas, Texas before deciding to serve in the military. He joined the United States Air Force and served for six years as a tactical aircraft maintenance technician for F-16s. After serving his country, he chose to pursue continuing education.
Vargas went on to higher learning at the University of Texas Pan American. He strived to stay involved by serving as an Associate Justice with the Student Government Association. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science before attending the Law School Preparatory Institute.
During his time at the Law School Preparatory Institute, he founded the first Student Veterans Association. After graduating from the Law School Preparatory Institute, he went to law school at the University of Houston Law Center.
At the University of Houston Law Center, he served as Historian on the Hispanic Law Students Association. He graduated from law school in 2009 and became licensed with the State Bar of Texas in 2010.
As a licensed attorney, he began working for the Hidalgo County Public Defender Office. He was soon elected Chair to the Board of Directors for the Advocacy Resource Center for Housing. He then went on to start his own private practice.
Vargas contributes to the legal community by serving as the Director for the Hidalgo County Young Lawyers Association.
Vargas also focuses on staying active among the legal community through his involvement in many professional affiliations and memberships. He is a member of the Hidalgo County Bar Association, Cameron County Bar Association, HCBA Criminal Law Section, Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, and Texas Lawyers for Texas Veterans.
