“Much can be said of the passage of time,” said Droste. “The longer you live, the more important friends and family become,” he added. Friendship and the lending of one’s musical talent, is the celebration we share today. The release of these singles from the past, almost 30 years, share fun times in the recording studios, and the sharing of one’s musical ideas and passion. “It took a long time to get here,” stated Droste. “I started writing songs in high school, to the School of Music at DePaul University, to learning MIDI, synthesizers, 4 track recorders, microphones, software, and endless amounts of recordings, to finally reach, and release this greatest hits album with some of my best friends is fantastic!” said Mike.
Too many times we take people and events for granted. “I am thankful for my friends, wife, families, and dogs. It’s been a great chance to reconnect, remember the past, and to share this album with others,” said Droste.
“It was nice to step back relive the past 30 years of accomplishments, and review the development of the songs, recordings, and singers. As I look back, much of my work was with Jeff Walker, a singer from Southern Illinois. He has one of those voices where you just sit back, smile, and enjoy. But, you have to hear Kimi Armour and Greg Gibbs who were students at DePaul with me, and enjoy their musical abilities. To this day, they still stand the test of time, and are fun 80’s styled songs to hear.”
Not to be out done, the more recently released song Chicago (A Shinning Jewel By The Lake) was completed with the relative newcomer Jimmy G. “This was a special song for me. as it celebrates the Chicago I grew up with, the sports teams and memories that I experienced in my favorite city,” said Droste. A great music video tribute to Chicago is available at ChicagoSong.org Jimmy G is a great talent and it was great to work with him and hear his vibrant voice.
