Beverley Hills, CA – A documentary maker who launched a fund appeal to raise money to make a documentary about artificial retina implants has raised $5,150 of the $8,000 goal. Landon Van Soest is hoping that more contributions will enable the funding goal to be reached by the time the appeal closes on 28th November 2013.
The funding raised is to enable Landon to complete Light Darkness Light, which is a documentary in progress that charts the process of bringing vision to the blind through artificial retina implants. Landon if well versed on how to make a documentary, as he is a successful director who has won Emmy awards and been involved in the Sundance Film Festive 2013 as a two time Sundance fellow.
The documentary tracks the life changing experience of a blind person as they receive artificial retina implants and regain the ability to see. The film takes viewers on a journey that enables them to follow someone who loses their sight, who goes through an innovative procedure, and who then learns to start living with their sight again.
Those who wish to invest in one of the latest new documentaries can benefits from various perks depending on the amount they contribute to the fund. A contribution of $20 will enable contributors to get a private link to download the completed film after the festival premiere. Those who contribute $100 will receive a special shout out in the credits for making it possible to complete the documentary. Other perks based on the amount contributed include framed and signed movie posters, an invitation to a pre-screening event, and for those who contribute £1000 or more there are even tickets to the premiere up for grabs.
Speaking about the documentary, Landon stated: "Through pioneering camera techniques and intimate narrative storytelling, the film aims to provide audiences with an experiential journey through the process of losing sight and developing a new concept of vision."
