On Tuesday July 29th an impressive gathering for Rabbinic, civic, political and business leaders took place at the home of Chaim Pinkesz, Director of M.A.R.C.H. (Mothers Alone Raising CHildren) in Brooklyn.  The guests who attended showed an outpour of support for Michael Brienza on his bid to be the next democratic district leader of the 50thAssembly District.

Rabbi Shlomo Braun, Founder and Director of the Aleh who also serves as the community representatives for NY State Senator Martin Golden introduced State Committee Members of the Brooklyn Democratic Party; Laurie Garson, Linda Minucci, and Sharon Fuchs. All three members spoke about the importance for the Jewish Community to get Michael Brienza elected to the post he is running for and what it would accomplish for our community. They also praised Chaim Pinkesz for his guidance and for being open-minded in developing close contact between the political officials and the Jewish community in Brooklyn. They all stated that they developed full confidence in Chaim and look forward to his continued advise and leadership and eager to accommodate his wishes.

Rabbi Braun then introduced Michael Brienza who elaborated on his vast experience of working closely with the Jewish community as a member of Community Board 1, especially just nominated to the Executive Board gives Mr. Brienza greater leverage to deal with issues such as appropriate housing and better transportation, greater police and sanitation services. He asked for the opportunity to be elected as a State Committee member as he is eager to be more effective in delivering vital services such as Section 8 rent subsidy, affordable housing and on & on. Upon completion of his presentation Michael Brienza received a standing ovation and all in attendance agreed to support him and make sure that he gets elected.

In closing, Rabbi Shlomo Braun concluded the meeting by encouraging everyone present to make sure that they register all their relatives and friends to vote; to encourage everyone in the community to serve on jury duty and be actively involved in the political process as it is crucial to properly address the challenges we face in the areas of education; employment, housing etc.

Chaim Pinkesz warmly thanked everyone for attending.  For more information contact Rabbi Shlomo Braun at 718-851-4596 ext. 25 or email rsbaleh@gmail.com
