Celebrated screenwriter David Hayter, known for his work on the X-Men movies and Watchmen, shows another side of his versatile talent in the August release Devil's Mile.
Though best known for his work at the keyboard, Santa Monica-born Hayter tries to keep a firm finger in the acting game - it is, after all, the arena that gave him his start. But having been so busy writing blockbuster movie fare the past few years, any opportunity to jump infront of the camera didn't usually fit-in with his busy schedule.
Then along came Devil's Mile.
Hayter - whose previous acting and voice-over work includes the Metal Gear Solid video games, for which he lends his lungs to the character of Solid Snake, as well as the films Burn and Drive - gladly accepted the opportunity to flex his acting muscles again via Joseph O'Brien's unique horror picture.
Devil's Mile, a supernatural fright-fest debuting on DVD and VOD this August from Phase 4 Films, tells of a gang of psychotic convicts that take a dangerous and ill-advised detour after brutally kidnapping two young girls. As the captors speed away, events quickly turn out to be much more dangerous and gruesome than they had planned for. While driving down a long and dark stretch of deserted highway, the car becomes surrounded by mysterious sinister spirits, forcing the captors and young girls to work together in hopes of surviving the deadly evil force.
If the buzz on the movie is anything to go by, we might be seeing a lot more of David Hayter actor in the near future.
