Her brother is a veteran who survived the war in Afghanistan only to be killed by a man who was texting and driving. His death lead to the divorce of her parents and her mother now has to work extra hours at the hospital saving others, ignorant of the fact she is losing her own daughter. On top of that she is tortured daily by a bully at school who is determined to make her life a living hell.

Cosette decides the time has come to end her life but she believes that suicide is selfish. It would leave her friends and family with guilt that they could have done more but didn't. So rather than leaving her loved ones with that guilt, Cosette decides to make herself a victim of the serial killer stalking her town. But every time she goes out to find him she gets attacked; her instincts take over, and she ends up killing her attackers. This quickly leads to an unbearable life. Desperate to finish this before she gets caught or racks up more victims, Cosette does the unthinkable.
